This week I was inspired by the sound of the Hurts voice and his lyrics. All I could think about was the dilapidated houses and the old wood that the houses were made of. I am not sure why this image was in my head. As creating I was listening to the music and being inspired by it. I am trying to stay away from the figures these days, and move forward to something new in my work. I am stuck in the world of charcoal right now, and I am trying to push. As well, the wood stands for the beauty in something old. And how with a slight change in the view point, everything like Mississippi John Hurts music. I think he is opening our eyes and making his life a little more beautiful. I was mainly inspired by "Make Me a Pallet on the Floor".
The reading this week was eye opening, especially in the reader relating to the coffee shops, and the 'counter culture' in Boston. I think that this is a very important point for how people learn about who peoples music was being distributed.
